Cookies
Tastethemoment uses as few cookies as a café website can use and still remember a choice. This page lists what may be stored on your device when you visit https://tastethemoment.site, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind. The bar at 1066 Hamilton Street, Suite 210, Vancouver does not need a cookie to pull a 26-second shot. The website needs one cookie to remember whether you allowed the map.
The first-party cookie we set
Choice cookie
tm_consent is set only after you press Accept or Essential only on the cookie bar, or after you set it again from this page. The value all means the Google Maps embed may load in the footer and on the contact page. The value essential means we remember that you refused the map and we keep showing the address as text. The cookie is first-party, path /, SameSite Lax. It is not an advertising identifier. It is not used to track you across other sites.
What we do not set before consent
No analytics cookies are set. No advertising cookies are set. No social pixel is loaded. The enquiry form uses a hidden timing field and a honeypot field in the page, not cookies. send.php does not write a cookie when a form succeeds or fails. A confirmation in the address bar (sent=1 or err=) is a redirect, not a stored profile.
Fonts
Headings and body type are requested from Google Fonts: Manrope 500, 700, and 800, and Lora 400, 500, and italic 400. The browser loads those files from Google’s servers after the preconnect links in the head. Google may process the request in line with its own terms. That font request is not a Tastethemoment analytics cookie and we do not read it. If you block third-party fonts, the site falls back to system type and remains readable.
Google Maps after you accept
The footer and the contact page can show a key-free Google Maps iframe for 1066 Hamilton Street, Suite 210, Vancouver, BC V6B 2R9. That iframe is not injected until tm_consent=all. Once it loads, Google may set its own cookies on the maps domain. Those cookies belong to Google, not to Tastethemoment. We do not read them. If you choose Essential only, you still get the postal address, the hours, and the Canada Line note in text. You can accept later if you want the pin.
How to change or clear the choice
Use the buttons on this page to set Accept or Essential only again. That overwrites tm_consent for another 180 days. You can also delete the cookie in your browser settings for tastethemoment.site. After it is gone, the bar appears on the next visit. Clearing all site data also clears the choice. It does not cancel a coffee plan or a catering deposit; those live in e-mail and invoices, not in this cookie.
Browser controls differ. In most desktop browsers you open the site information panel, list cookies, and remove tm_consent. On a phone, the same control sits under site settings. If you use a tracker blocker, the cookie bar may return more often because the write is blocked. The pages still work.
Why a café bothers with this
The map is useful for a loading zone on Helmcken and a 6-minute walk from Yaletown–Roundhouse. It is not useful enough to load Google before you agree. The rest of the site is HTML, CSS, and a small script that opens the menu, lifts in later sections, and stores this one choice. We host in Canada. We do not run an ad network. We do not score a visitor for a lookalike audience.
If a future page added a video embed or a payment widget, we would update this table before that embed set a cookie. Until then, the list above is the whole list. Privacy details about the form, logs, and billing records sit on the privacy page. Commercial rules sit on terms and refunds.
